Three steps, one photo

We need the shape of the cut end, drawn on paper — not a photo of the wall.

  1. 1Draw round the cut end

    Stand an offcut on plain white paper and draw tightly round it with a black pen — or press firmly with a sharp pencil. A faint line is the most common reason a scan fails.

  2. 2Lay a bank card on the paper

    Flat, next to your drawing, not on top of the line. The card is our ruler.

  3. 3Photograph from straight above

    Whole sheet in frame, one sheet only, on a plain table in good light.

The back and bottom don't need to be perfect — we focus on the moulded top edge.
