How to tell if yours is Bullnose
Look at a cut end, not the face: the face hides the depth of the section. Read it where the paint is thinnest.
- The top edge is one full, soft quarter-round shoulder, visible from across the room.
- The round runs 9mm down from the top edge on our cutter, then the face goes flat.
- There are no fillets (small flat steps) above or below the curve.
- Common in modern builds and busy hallways, where a soft edge takes knocks well.
Names are only labels: two boards sold as “bullnose” can need different cutters. The scanner compares your measured section, to ±1mm, against this cutter and every other one on the rack.
Often confused with
Pencil round is a much smaller radius (3mm): a softened corner, not a shoulder.
An ovolo's quarter-round sits between two square fillets; a bullnose has none.
